I am currently creating a video concept for our local food cooperative “The Bearwood Pantry”. And for the sake of research I am looking at lots of video, blogs etc. from other food cooperatives. And this made me think about inspiration.
Inspiration is when you look at something and you go “oh wow, this is wonderful, I wonder if I could create something amazing like that.” I think, it’s perfectly alright to get inspired, go away and brew your own ideas and create something new. What is not ok, is to get inspired and go away and simply copy what you have seen. Anyone who has been around for a while and created something will be able to tell you stories of work being copied, often literally one to one. That is not ok.
Inspiration is great though and it can come from many sources: reading books, looking at photos, watching a film, talking to a friend. Anything that fills up your cup so that it overflows. I am a big believer in that, it is not possible to create with an empty cup.
So this morning, I am feeling very inspired and am scribbling down many ideas for the video, drinking coffee and looking forward to starting production on this little gem soon.
